Web AR Experience for Michelin Tires’ New Product Range
About the Customer :
Michelin Tires is a French tyre manufacturer based in Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes région of France. It is the second-largest tire manufacturer in the world.
About the Project:
Michelin Tires was launching a new range of products, and they needed an innovative marketing solution to help their customers learn more about them in an interactive way.
XR Labs Solution :
XR Labs determined that Michelin Tires needed an immersive marketing solution which helped customers interact with the products in detail. And so, we proposed a Web-based Augmented Reality experience (WebAR) was the way to go. The WebAR solution we deployed allowed users to examine and learn more about the new range of tires in immersive Augmented Reality right on their web browser without the need to download and install an application on their mobile devices.
Some of the key features of the experience was:
- 3D + AR Experience – The experience was available in both 3D and on AR. The user could visualize the tires in 3D or choose to place them in a real environment.
- Multi-Touch Gestures – Multi-Touch gestures empowered the user to pinch and zoom to see the product up close. The user could also rotate the products and place them anywhere they desired in AR.
- WebAR Experience – The entire experience was built on a website and could be accessed via users’ mobile browsers just by clicking on a link.
- USP Hotspots – With a simple tap, users could invoke Interactive Information Panels about the product and its features, allowing them to learn more about what they were seeing.
Return on Investment :
After analyzing the results from the WebAR experience, Michelin Tires saw:
- 30% increase in website footfall
- 45% increase in google searches of the products included in the WebAR experience
