HRMS and GCMS Virtual Reality for an American Pharmaceutical Company
About the Customer :
Our Client is an American Generics and Specialty Pharmaceutical company, headquartered in New Jersey. The company is rapidly becoming one of the most purpose-driven pharmaceutical companies delivering affordable access to essential medicines across the globe.
Problem Statement:
Major Pharma companies across the globe invest a lot of money and heavily rely on specialized machines called spectrometers for their quality control process. These spectrometers are sophisticated, sensitive, and highly line-critical, and so they need skilled and competent workers to operate them. Our client had over 6000 employees and training them all to operate such complex machinery was proving to be a challenge.
XR Labs Solution :
Our client reached out to XR Labs to create a VR training simulator to train their employees on two complex machines– High-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometers (GCMS). XR Labs delivered a highly detailed experience which simulated the workings of the actual machines, even though we did not have access to the 3D models of the machinery involved.
Highlights of our Solution:
- Recreation of the manufacturing unit: The entire facility was recreated in 3D to give the staff a realistic and immersive experience
- Hand Tracking: Hand Tracking allowed the staff to get hands-on training experience, without the need of controllers
- Voice and Visual Guides: Voice and Visual guides helped the staff undergo the training on their own, without any external assistance
- Evaluation and Analytics: Our evaluation module reviewed the trainees’ performance and shared relevant metrics with the management
Return on Investment :
Our client saw significant outcomes after using our VR training module
- Time Reduction: 28% time reduction in onboarding, training, and certification of new recruits on the SOPs
- Better Information Retention: 25% improvement in information retention, and a reduction in the need for refresher training
- Reduced Process Deviation: 30% reduction in deviation from SOPs related to maintenance and operation of the HRMS and GCMS
- Dependency Reduction: 80% reduction in the dependency on actual Pharma manufacturing machines for training purposes
